'Q'ueen Elizabeth II ♥

One of the joys of living in the United Kingdom is having a royal family- which comes with many special occasions our country can celebrate (including the royal wedding next week- see below).

Our current Queen is Elizabeth II...

She is the daughter of King George VI and Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon and she became Queen in 1952 after the death of her father.

Elizabeth has been married to Philip Mountbatten since 1947. Soon after being married, she had 4 children; Prince Charles (1948), Princess Anne (1950), Prince Andrew (1960) and Prince Edward (1964).

Queen Elizabeth is a grandmother to 8- William, Henry (Harry), Peter, Zara, Beatrice, Eugenie, Louise and James.

Her oldest son Prince Charles (married previously to Diana Spencer and now married to Camilla Parker Bowles) is next in line for the throne, then his sons after him.

On the 29th of this month Prince William and Catherine Middleton will be married. It is my first royal wedding and I am very excited! When my mum and dad were little they used to have street parties and hang up triangle flags along their roads, I wish we were having one! It said on the news that people from all over the world will be watching the royal wedding, not just from the UK. The newspaper has the plan for the whole day in, the ceremony will be taking place at 11am.

Are you going to watch?

How exciting?!

This must be an exciting time for you. I'm afraid I won't be able to catch the nuptials, but it still sounds like a fun time to be had by all.

Happy to meet you via the A-Z Challenge!
